ABOUT OUR PILOT SCHOOL

Legally constituted as Centro de Educación Básica Gubernamental Guatemala in July 22nd of 1969.

The school is located in one of the oldest urban slums in the Central District of Honduras, Torocagua. The students that access this school live near the 1ero de Diciembre, Carrizal, Independencia and other smaller and newer urban settlements.

Residents from these settlements experience enormous challenges to access basic rights such as food security, potable water, formal employment, and economic opportunities that help them prioritize education. They are also exposed to a high level of violence and homicide rates.

To date, 730 students are enrolled, of which 377 are girls. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the school committee lost total contact with 65 girls due to their inability to access internet.
